Computers are always changing so fast. As an example of how quick things move then I bought a new desktop computer just 2 years ago, now my friend had just bought a cheap laptop and apart from the processor it has the same spec as my computer! As software gets more complex and requires more resources to run then in a few years time my computer which was great to start with, will struggle to cope, and I’ll be forced to upgrade.
Yet how do you go about choosing your next computer? I know a little bit about computers so I feel comfortable browsing through lists of computers and comparing their specs, but for most people that would be hell as they have no idea what a good computer should have and how much it should cost. In which case I think the best thing to do is buy the latest computer magazine which says on the front it reviews computers.
Yes you can just Google the computer and find loads of reviews that way, but some of those reviews will be by people getting money if you purchase the computer, so you don’t really want to trust that kind of review. The magazines will go through all the latest offers for you with an expert eye and find out which ones actually give you the best deal and which ones are by companies you can trust. An added bonus is that the computers which get the best ratings in the magazine will get a surge of sales, so the companies selling them will want to look after those customers because if the magazine gets complaints about customer service or other problems then they might knock the rating down next time.
Then once you have purchased a computer and you are happy with it you just need to think about getting some accessories like a wireless mouse and a big backup drive, or maybe something like a set of pink speakers to liven it up.
